This past weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena, Warner Bros., and New Line hosted an exclusive presentation, highlighting their upcoming projects such as Annabelle Comes Home, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and of course, this weekend’s new release Shazam!. The cast and/or filmmakers from the latter two films were present to discuss and participate in a Q&A with eager fans. All three films showed exclusive footage, but easily the most impressive and crowd-pleasing was the extended clip and trailer for May’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. And thanks to Warner Bros. and New Line, this exclusive footage was shown once again to CinemaCon attendees over in Las Vegas and to the public with IMAX screenings of Shazam! on its opening weekend exclusively.
The clip kicks off with the two Russells, played respectively by Vera Farmiga and Millie Brown, in a helicopter seemingly breaking the three-headed Titan Ghidorah out of the ice. Ghidorah immediately makes for by standing scientists and military personnel. It is a gorgeous clip that is capped by a fantastic and jaw-dropping entrance from the titular monster himself…Godzilla.
Following the exclusive clip, director Michael Dougherty and writer Zach Shields had plenty to discuss with eager fans about the scene in question and the movie as a whole. Many fans were cited saying that this is the “Godzilla movie they have been waiting for their whole life,” a statement that the entire arena including the two panelists and the enthusiastic moderator could agree with.
