‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Reactions Are Mixed

Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare’s newest RPG, was released in North America today for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Mass Effect fans in Europe will need to wait a little bit longer, but the launch is right around the corner. However, people who have played the previous games may want to take some time to read reviews before jumping at the chance to play the newest release. Popular websites such as GameSpot, IGN, and Eurogamer are not rating Andromeda as highly as the trilogy featuring Commander Sheperd.

Here is a look what some of these websites are reporting:

“The game can’t escape its shortcomings, but patient explorers can still find a few stars shining in the darkness.” – GameSpot

“Let’s be clear: I’m conflicted about Mass Effect: Andromeda. There’s a lot of roughness throughout the game, and the technical issues, while not game-breaking, are often incredibly distracting.” – Polygon

“The combat crackles and the worlds are lush, but mediocre writing and tepid quests add up to what is probably BioWare’s worst RPG yet.” – Eurogamer

“Marred by inconsistency and in need of a polish pass, this vast new sci-fi frontier nonetheless rewards dedicated exploration.” – PC Gamer

Most dedicated fans of the Mass Effect series may be able to overlook Andromeda‘s shortcomings. However, if you have watched the YouTube clips and visited a stream or two but you’re still not pulling out your wallet, you may want to wait. It may be better to wait until the game is on sale. The game has beautiful environments, a loveable playable character, and new stories from an entirely new crew which will make the game worth playing through at least once.
