9 Magnificent Moments from New York Comic Con 2019

New York Comic Con 2019 has come to an end, so let’s take a moment to check out all the hubbub.

So here are 9 Magnificent Moments from New York Comic Con 2019 – in random order:

1. Ryan Reynolds Surprise Appearance

Ryan Reynolds surprised fans at New York Comic Con to show off a new movie. Free Guy releases in theaters July 2, 2020.

2. WATCHMEN X NYCC After-Party

IGN invited guests to an exclusive party to celebrate HBO’s Watchmen at the Classic Car Club Manhattan. Guests were immersed in the world of Watchmen. From props from the show, to Amrit leading party vibes and a menu of exclusive Watchmen-themed cocktails and appetizers. And even though “nothing ever ends” guests left with a limited edition Watchmen Swatch Watch. Tick Tock!

Watchmen premieres on HBO at 9 pm on Sunday, October 20th.

3. Todd McFarland Awarded Guinness World Records Title for Spawn

Fans were invited to witness McFarlane receive his official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS certificate for the longest-running creator-owned superhero comic book series for his creation of SPAWN. The ceremony took place on Saturday, October 5th prior to McFarlane’s very own panel, “The Road to Historic SPAWN 300 and 301” during New York Comic Con.

“Any record that is based on longevity, is made on the backs of dozens of people,” said McFarlane. “As much as I am proud to be receiving this award, I gratefully accept it on behalf of all those who helped me the past 27 years on this journey.”

4. Star Trek: Picard Debuts New NYCC Trailer

Star Trek: Universe panel attendees at New York Comic Con got a special look at the Star Trek Universe’s newest addition. Star Trek: Picard will premiere on January 23 on CBS All Access in the United States, in Canada on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel & OTT service Crave, and on January 24 on Amazon Prime in more than 200 countries and territories.

5. Fangirls Night Out NYCC 2019 After-Party

Geek Girl Brunch NYC hosted their sixth annual New York Comic-Con unisex after-party on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5th and it was a BLAST! Check out our NYCC19 InstagramStories for video footage of the party.

The lower level of Houndstooth Pub (520 8th Avenue) was the venue for the party which included a DJ booth featuring great music from
DJ Marc-E McFly and a kitchen for ordering food!

With the cost of the ticket attendees were given gift bags, raffle tickets to win amazing prizes from Logan Arch, The Colorful Geek, Geek Girl Strong, Infinifan, tasty custom cupcakes from YehCakes and custom themed cocktails to order.

Geek Girl Brunch is an international meetup group of ladies who geek out together, typically when mimosas are involved. The meet up has allowed women a place to talk about their favorite fandoms, network, create friendships, and just inspire each other to keep being awesome! The idea was such a huge success that chapters have opened all over the world.

6. The Orville’s Scott Grimes Serenades Mark Jackson

During the panel discussion, Scott Grimes and Mark Jackson put on a show for the audience.

7. Adam Savage Incognito on the Exhibit Floor as No-Face

Adam’s new No-Face costume arrived at New York Comic Con (He cosplayed a different No-Face at this past summer’s San Diego Comic Con). Take a look at the crowd reaction to this transformation of the iconic Spirited Away character, and the gasps do not disappoint. No-Face is hungry!

8. The Yet-To-Be-Titled The Walking Dead Spin-Off Trailer

On Saturday, October 5, the yet-to-be-titled The Walking Dead spinoff had its debut panel at New York Comic Con. At the panel, AMC released the first look at the untitled third The Walking Dead Universe series.

The new show will hit AMC in Spring 2020. The new series stars Aliyah Royale (The Red Line), Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: Dark Web), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Nicolas Cantu (The Amazon World of Gumball), Hal Cumpston (Bilched) and Nico Tortorella (Younger).

It’s official, The Walking Dead Universe (WDU) is a thing!

9. DC Universe’s Headquarters

DC Universe’s Headquarters, aka DCUHQ hosted “The Fantabulous Evolution of One Harley Quinn Gallery,” an immersive pop-up installation featuring original art depicting Harley, from the very first concept sketch of the iconic antihero to images from her new DC Universe animated show to a peek at next year’s live-action ‘Bird of Prey’ film (the second movie to feature Margot Robbie as the Clown Princess of Crime!). Guests were treated to original and exclusive art, cover work, model sheets, collectibles, props, costumes, and more — including art by acclaimed creators Amanda Conner, Jim Lee, and Bruce Timm. Best of all, no Comic Con badge, tickets, or reservation was required to enjoy this gallery. (Photo Credit: Susan Johnson)

In addition, DC Universe subscribers were given the chance to grab one of five different free, members-only, limited edition pins each day of the convention. And a special 6th pin! These pins featured characters from the new ‘Harley Quinn’ animated series — including Harley herself, her best pal Poison Ivy, Clayface, King Shark, Doctor Psycho — all of which can be seen below. The Animated Series Harley Quinn is set to premiere on November 29, 2019, on DC Universe.

Finally, DC Universe members who visited DCUHQ, were also able to enjoy a members-only lounge, which featured live Q&As and signings with special guest creators, as well as breakfast hosted by the stars of ‘DC Daily’.
