Some big news unveiled today, The Wrap reports that the main villain to face off against Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in the upcoming film of the same name, will be none other than Black Manta.

Who is Black Manta? DC Comics fans know the character as Aquaman’s main antagonist and deadliest adversary. The character debuted in Aquaman #35 (September 1967). Black Manta has had a number of varying origin stories over the years, however the character is most typically depicted as a man with no apparent super powers, (though a skilled combatant and brilliant tactician) wearing a black wetsuit and stylized helmet (as shown above).

Aquaman will next be seen on the silver screen in the highly anticipated ‘Justice League’ film due November 17th, 2017. And then in the official “Aquaman” film, which is slated for release on July 27th, 2018, starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Willem Dafoe. Directed by James Wan.
