NEW YORK COMIC CON Announces Friday Night Afterparty Inspired by STARZ’s SHINING VALE

STARZ presents…“Escape to Shining Vale”

Co-hosted by STARZ, “Escape to Shining Vale,” an Official NYCC Afterparty, will be held at the Javits Center on Friday, October 13

NORWALK, CT, September 22, 2023 – On Friday the 13th, you’re invited to escape to Shining Vale. ReedPop, the world’s leading producer of pop culture events, and STARZ today announced the first of two official New York Comic Con Afterparties, a Shining Vale-themed celebration to be held at the Javits Center on Friday, October 13 from 7:30-9:30 PM.

Inspired by the original horror comedy series Shining Vale, the official Friday night NYCC afterparty invites fans to attend a spine-tingling soirée. Prepare to enter through an asylum and into Shining Vale, where you’ll be transported right into the Phelps’ family home. Join STARZ and NYCC for a night of laughter, scares, and unforgettable memories this Friday the 13th and don’t be afraid to RSVP, because in Shining Vale, the only thing scarier than the party is missing it! The party is 21+ and open exclusively to NYCC ticket holders with a valid 4-Day, Friday, VIP, Press, Content Creator, or Pro badge. Shining Vale will premiere its first two episodes earlier that evening at NYCC at 6:00 PM in room 405.

“Shining Vale” season two is set to premiere on Friday, October 13th, at midnight ET on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms and on LIONSGATE+ streaming platform in the U.K. and Ireland. New episodes will be available to stream weekly on Fridays at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms and will air weekly on the STARZ linear platform.

Open to a limited number of fans, tickets for the party are first come, first serve and all attendees must pre-register in advance. Fans can register and find more information here. (SOLD OUT)

“Shining Vale” is a horror comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Courteney Cox) is a former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn). Fast forward 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober but totally unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband (Greg Kinnear), and her teenage kids are at that stage where they want you dead. She was a faithful wife until her one slip-up: she had a torrid affair with the hot, young handyman who came over to fix the sink while Terry was at work. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, she and Terry cash in all their savings and move the family from the “crazy” of the city to a large, old house in the suburbs that has a storied past of its own. Everyone has their demons, and for Pat Phelps, it’s Rosemary (Mira Sorvino).

NYCC takes place on October 12-15, 2023 at the Javits Center in NYC with a must-see slate of special guests, panelists, exhibitors, artists, and more. Tickets are now on sale to the general public. Fans are also invited to sign up to become Popverse Superfans at thepopverse.com to receive access to convention coverage, how-to and shopping guides, deep dives into popular fandoms, and more.  Popverse will also be livestreaming many of NYCC’s biggest panels throughout the weekend.
