Dream Team of Entertainment and Comic Icons are Launching EKOS VOLUME 1: A New Universe Produced by the Founding Chairman of Marvel Studios, David Maisel, and inspired by the art and creations of legends Michael Turner and writer Geoff Johns
Ekos will be taking over San Diego Comic-Con with a Huge Booth, Special Panel, and Prominent Activation with 250+ Access Scanners Featuring ‘Ekos Volume 1’ Around the Convention
The Founding Chairman of Marvel Studios (David Maisel), his Mythos Studios, and Aspen Comics are launching a new entertainment universe called EKOS, which is inspired by the art and creations of legendary comic artist Michael Turner and writer Geoff Johns. Ekos Volume 1 will be produced by Maisel, with cover art by Joe Quesada (Former Chief Creative Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Marvel) and other superstar artists. The storyline of Ekos has been kept under wraps, except for Maisel revealing to The Hollywood Reporter that, “In a time when there are so many great films exploring the wonder and awe of multiverses and galaxies, Ekos will focus on the wonder and awe of this planet.”

The Ekos and Aspen team will have a large presence at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, with one of the largest booths, a special panel, and a prominent marketing activation that includes Ekos Volume 1 promotions on the 250+ access scanners around the entire convention. The Ekos and Aspen panel will be hosted on Saturday, July 27th at 1 pm PT in Room 4, where fans will receive a sneak peek of the Ekos Universe as well as a free gift.
EKOS VOLUME 1 will be collected in three Issues to make up a ~128-page graphic novel. The project will initially be available exclusively on Kickstarter, with the Kickstarter campaign launching on September 10, 2024. The Kickstarter pre-launch page will be live on July 18th where fans can sign up to follow the campaign, be alerted of campaign updates, and receive an exclusive digital print of an homage to Marvel’s Civil War 1 variant cover by Michael Turner, but including the main Ekos characters.
he Ekos Volume 1 Aspen Comics creative team includes colorist Peter Steigerwald (Civil War, Fathom, Soulfire), writer J.T. Krul (Soulfire), and artist Alex Konat (Fathom). In addition to Joe Quesada, cover artists include Alex Ross, J. Scott Campbell, David Mack, Jerome Opeña, and more.

About Michael Turner: Michael Turner is a legendary comic creator and artist. In 1994, Michael began working for Top Cow Productions, co-creating the comic series Witchblade, a popular indie comic book. Turner later debuted his creator-owned series, Fathom, in 1998. It became the best-selling comic book of that year. In 2002, Michael left Top Cow Productions to start Aspen MLT LLC., and create the hit indie title Soulfire, in addition to continuing Fathom. Turner would go on to illustrate covers for Marvel and DC Comics, including Civil War, Superman/Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more. Turner’s Marvel and DC cover work led to his iconic status as one of the most beloved cover artists and comic book pencilers of all time.
