Nintendo certainly has mobility on the brain with the upcoming Switch console and announcements regarding the continued support of the 3DS handheld. It should come as no surprise that Nintendo is now intent on breaking into the iOS and Android market and recently revealed that they plan on releasing two or three iOS and Android games a year. With various games featuring casual, bite-sized play sessions, fans can enjoy Nintendo-branded games where ever they go. Fire Emblem fans can fit in a quick battle while riding public transportation or catch up with friends on Miitomo for a moment before going to bed.
An Animal Crossing mobile game has been announced and it is currently scheduled for release sometime between April 2017 and March 18, Nintendo’s next fiscal year. The Animal Crossing franchise has been extremely popular with people of all ages and it is bound to be a crowd-pleaser when it is finally released. However, Nintendo must be very careful about how it decides to use micro-transactions within its mobile games. Appearing too greedy or creating an obvious “cash cow” could alienate its currently loyal fanbase.
