The Battle.net platform developed by Blizzard Entertainment has been connecting online players to their favourite games since November 30, 1996. The Battle.net technology has grown from an online connection to play Diablo with friends into an online game launcher, support tool, and account manager for Blizzard Entertainment’s gaming collection.
Blizzard announced today that they are going to begin transitioning away from the Battle.net name in favour of “Blizzard tech”. Blizzard Entertainment has stated that the change has come about due to some noticeable confusion between the two company identities, Battle.net and Blizzard. Players who have been using the Battle.net system are sad to see the name go, but this name change will alleviate some confusion and will help new players not yet familiar with Blizzard Entertainment.
