Atlanta Film Festival Presents Screening of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Premiere

ATLANTA, GA (April 1, 2019) — Winter is coming to the Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF), as HBO partners with the annual event to bring the highly-anticipated season premiere of the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” to the big screen at the Plaza Theatre. Fans are invited to see the first episode on the final day of ATLFF 2019 as it airs in real time on HBO on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 9:00 PM.

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, this hitEmmy®-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom. First premiering in 2011, the eighth season premiere marks the beginning of the end of the series and brings fans one step closer to the long-awaited end of the quest for the Iron Throne.

The special presentation also marks the end of the 11-day festival, celebrating its 43rd year this year. In years past, HBO and ATLFF have teamed up to bring “Game of Thrones” fans exclusive fan experiences and special sneak previews of season premiere episodes. At this year’s event,your best Westeros costumes are encouraged, but weapons (real or prop) are not permitted.

While the screening is free to the public, following the presentation, the festival wrap party at the Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge is open to festival badge-holders only.

This Special Presentation joins the 2019 film lineup of 31 feature length films, 98 short films and 36 creative media presentations. The 11-day event, taking place from Thursday, April 4 – Sunday, April 14, 2019, will also include Opening and Closing Night Presentations, 13 Marquee screenings, seven Special Presentations and a number of Creative Conference events.
