THE OUTLAWED ONE-SHOT WILL SERIOUSLY FRACTURE MARVEL’S HERO COMMUNITY.
Marvel has been lucky enough to build a strong group of next-generation heroes such as Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, Miles Morales, Viv Vision, Pixie, and Brawn are just a few examples of young heroes working today. Additionally, teams like the Champions and West Coast Avengers have recently existed. They are attempting to save the world alongside their mentors and adult friends. However, that era is about to come to a close in Outlawed
The Outlawed one-shot will go on sale in March 2020. It will be written by Dr. Eve Ewing with art by Kim Jacinto and a cover by House of X artist Pepe Larraz.
Outlawed will have the U.S. Government institute laws regarding teenage heroes after an unknown tragedy.
Dr. Ewing further clarifies the Outlawed concept in a recent interview:
“To me, this story isn’t just about young people being in conflict with the government, but much bigger questions about what we ask of young people, how they’re expected to be independent sometimes and subservient other times. Every era of history brings new challenges, and young people today are coming of age… yet we often don’t recognize their wisdom and their insights. It’s like we get above a certain age and lose all empathy.”
Editor Allana Smith adds that Outlawed will be “bringing the next generation of heroes to the forefront in a major way and swinging for the fences in terms of story, stakes, and scale.” This event will be reflected in comics throughout Marvel. Moreover, almost every active character under the age of 21 will be affected by Outlawed. However, not all young heroes will follow the new laws. This will create a split in the young hero community. This event is being compared to the original Civil War story.
