New Comic Book Day! (Wednesday 10/5/16)

Every Wednesday the comic book Gods and Goddesses bless us with brand new books from our favorite series! Here are some of the books that have caught my attention and make me eager to run down to my LCS:

Deadpool: Back in Black #1 – Marvel has a lot of big new releases this week, but I think the best among them will certainly be Deadpool! Deadpool as a character usually gives readers a fun, comedic and action packed story that has something for everyone. In this new series, the alien symbiote that was responsible for Spiderman’s black costume has now made its way to Deadpool. It will be interesting to see how Deadpool is affected by the new symbiote suit and what kind of chaos it will unleash. Pick up this hot new Deadpool title!

Cage #1 – Luke Cage has recently smashed onto the televsion scene by acquiring his own Netflix Series. Genndy Tartakovsky creator of Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Hotel Transylvania writes and illustrates this new series featuring the classic Luke Cage! I love the look of this Luke Cage in this book. It is very reminiscent of the old comic book appearance and is bound to be a lot of fun. This is the Luke Cage you know and love! Motivated, hard working and kicking ass! Don’t miss Luke Cage #1!

Death of X #1 – This new 4-part series explores the clash between The X-Men and the Inhumans. From the creators Jeff Lemire (Extraordinary X-Men) and Charles Soule (Uncanny Inhumans), this story will take us on a thrill ride that will have major implications on the X-Men universe. When an outbreak of Terrigen Mist clouds start turning people into dangerous Inhumans, the X-men are faced with a challenge that will change them forever. Those who have watched Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D are familiar with the way Terrigen mist transforms seemingly normal people into monsters. Be sure to pick up this limited new series!

Justice League (Rebirth) #6 – This Justice League Series is off to a good start! The first 5 issues chronicled their battle with a new and unknown alien threat. Now, coming off of their recent victory, face a new threat. We will also get a look at the new green lantern, Jessica Cruz, as she builds more interpersonal relationships with the team. Pick up this book and continue the journey with the Justice League!

Moonshine #1 – This new series out of image comics is a perfect example why we love indie books! Enter a world where mob-like characters do whatever it takes to protect their moonshine operation against impending forces and competition. This however, is a mob family with a frightening supernatural secret, they are Werewolves?! (HA! now I get it “Moon-Shine”). You definitely don’t want to miss this new horror gangster series!
