New COMICS To Get After FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

We hope you had a great time on Free Comic Book Day 2018, whether it was your first time or you’ve been going for years!

The comics on Free Comic Book Day are a great jump on point for new readers who can then go back to their local comic shop and continue reading that newly discovered series.

Here are a few comics from Free Comic Book Day 2018 that have new issues you can get now or later this month. So head back to your local comic shop and pick these up!

If you picked up Barrier on Free Comic Book Day, then go and get Barrier #2 (MAR180573) on May 9th. Barrier is an unconventional drama about violence, language, and illegal immigration…with a shocking sci-fi twist. Return to your local comic shop each week throughout May to get the entire Barrier series (issues #3, #4, and #5.)

If you brought home Avengers/Captain America on Free Comic Book Day, then Avengers #1(MAR180776) is ready and waiting for you now. Thor Odinson. Steve Rogers. Tony Stark. The Big Three of the Avengers are reunited at last! And just in time to save the world from total annihilation at the hands of their most powerful enemies yet: the 2000-foot-tall space gods known as Celestials.

The DC Super Hero Girls comic on Free Comic Book Day featured a chapter from the original graphic novel, DC Super Hero Girls: A Date with Disaster (NOV170216)!  Catwoman is out on the prowl one night when kaboom! An explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs rouses the heroes from their slumber. Star students Batgirl and Lois Lane both know the lab incident is fishy, and they meet later to share clues. But nothing could’ve prepared Batgirl for what they see next: Batgirl’s dad out on a date! Batgirl is grossed out until her friends convince her that dads get lonely, too. And with the school dance coming up and everyone pairing off-heck, even Principal Waller has a date with a guy called Deadshot-maybe it’ll be okay. The girls place a personal ad for Commissioner Gordon while they delve deeper into the mystery surrounding the explosion, but they’re about to discover more than who is behind the attack on S.T.A.R. Labs. Could it be that posting an ad looking for dates for the commissioner is like advertising catnip for criminals? The graphic novel is available now!

You got a taste of Shattered Grid with the Power Rangers comic on Free Comic Book Day, so you can’t miss what happens next! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #27 (MAR181241) is the next chapter in the epic story and it’s available on May 16th. As Lord Drakkon’s power and influence grows, the Power Rangers work with new allies from across time and dimensions, including Ranger teams such as Time Force, RPM, and Samurai, to craft a plan to fight back…but is it already too late? Pick up all the issues of Shattered Grid by taking a look at this checklist for the entire story arc!

The Pokémon Free Comic Book Day comic from VIZ Media was pretty cool, so now you’ve Gotta Catch ‘Em All! Head to your comic shop now for Pokémon Sun & Moon Vol. 1 (MAR182040)! Moon is on her way to deliver a rare Pokémon to Professor Kukui in the Alola region when she meets his good friend Sun, a courier entrusted with a special Pokédex. Sun offers to safely deliver Moon to the professor’s lab… But then they tangle with a group of grunts from Team Skull and are attacked by a mysterious Pokémon! What is this sparkling stone the mysterious Pokémon leaves behind…?

Riverdale, Vol. 2 TP (JAN181219) from Archie Comics continues the adventure you started on Free Comic Book Day.  The trade paperback collects issues 4-8 of the ongoing series from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and the writers of the CW’s Riverdale. And Riverdale #12 (FEB181113) is out on May 16th. If you watch Riverdale then you should be reading the comic!

Comics Friends Forever on Free Comic Book Day had a preview of Hope Larson’s All Summer Long(MAR181659) and that graphic novel just became available at comic shops. Thirteen-year-old Bina has a long summer ahead of her. She and her best friend, Austin, usually do everything together, but he’s off to soccer camp for a month, and he’s been acting kind of weird lately anyway. So it’s up to Bina to see how much fun she can have on her own. At first, it’s a lot of guitar playing, boredom, and bad TV, but things look up when she finds an unlikely companion in Austin’s older sister, who enjoys music just as much as Bina. But then Austin comes home from camp, and he’s acting even weirder than when he left. How Bina and Austin rise above their growing pains and reestablish their friendship and respect for their differences makes for a touching and funny coming-of-age story.

After reading the Invader Zim issue from Free Comic Book Day you should go get Invader Zim, Vol. 5 TP(NOV171799) which collects issues 21-25. ZIM’s latest doomsday plot is foiled when GIR goes haywire and tries to kill everyone in sight! (But especially ZIM. He kinda deserves it.) Diagnostics reveal that the malfunction is due to a virus, forcing ZIM to do the one thing he never thought he’d have to-GO INSIDE GIR’S BRAIN. Where nothing works and everything is exactly at GIR’s level of nonsense.

The FCBD edition of Joe Books’ best-selling Disney Princess comic put the spotlight on Ariel for the very first time! But we all know there’s a lot more Disney at your local comic shop! Go pick up Disney Princess #17 (DEC171650), the latest issue of the series featuring laugh-out-loud stories from the worlds of Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, Tiana, Cinderella, Aurora, and more!
