There will be lots of animated narratives for families to enjoy this summer and I’ve listed a nice set of titles that’ll surely entertain both child and adult. This season we will help find a lost fish, hang out with pets left home alone, have a best friend that’s a dragon and go on another Ice Age adventure.
Finding Dory
On a quest to find answers about her past, our favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) embarks on an adventure for truth and to reunite with her mother (Diane Keaton) and father (Eugene Levy). Dory travels with the comfort and support of her friends, Nemo and Marlin (Albert Brooks). View the too cute trailer. Andrew Stanton directs. Finding Dory hits theaters on June 17th.
The Secret Life of Pets
From the director of Despicable Me 2, we are sent on the adventures of an entitled inner-city terrier named Max who teams up with a sloppy yet spirited mongrel named Duke to stop a menacing bunny from forming an army of abandoned pets aimed at taking revenge on all happy-go-lucky pets and their owners. The BFG
DreamWorks production brings to life Roald Dahl’s beloved book about a little girl who befriends a gentle giant and the Queen of England. They all band together to fight against a ravenous group of child-eating behemoths. Directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Melissa Mathison (The Black Stallion, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial), along with Frank Marshall producing, this is sure to be a fun-filled adventure. View the trailer. The Big Friendly Giant is scheduled to be released on July 22nd in the Disney Digital 3-D and RealD 3D and standard theatrical formats.
Ice Age: Collision Course
Our beloved prehistoric Scrat gets himself and Earth in a whirlwind of trouble chasing his intangible acorn. This time, he has catapulted himself into outer space! Manny (Ray Ramano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis Leary), and the rest of the clan are on the quest to save themselves from danger. You can bet their journey will be full of fast-paced adventure with the additions of new friends along the way. Here’s the trailer. Ice Age: Collision Course is scheduled to be released on July 22nd.
Pete’s Dragon
Director David Lowery brings to life the classic tale of an orphan boy and his pet dragon. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Wes Bentley, and Oakes Fegley as Pete. Check out the trailer. Pete’s Dragon is scheduled to be released on August 12th.
