Actress Carrie Fisher, undoubtedly best known for her iconic role as Star Wars’ Princess Leia, has died. This news comes to us just days after learning the actress suffered a debilitating heart attack while onboard a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was 60.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” family spokesperson Simon Halls told People. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.” Family spokesperson Simon Halls confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter.
A child of Hollywood royalty, Fisher is the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. She left an indelible mark on the big screen in the original Star Wars (1977), in which she led the rebellion as Princess Leia. It was only her second film and her first starring role. She reprised the role in the two subsequent sequels in 1980 and 1983 respectively, and returned to the character, in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The actress was also scheduled to appear in the next Star Wars movie, Episode VIII.
Carrie Fisher is survived by her mother, Debbie Reynolds, her daughter, actress Billie Lourd, her brother Todd Fisher, and two half-sisters, actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher.

I thought I had got what I wanted under the tree. I didn’t. In spite of so many thoughts and prayers from so many. I am very, very sad.
