A couple of first look images of the much-anticipated Wonder Woman sequel were revealed yesterday on Twitter. First, director Patty Jenkins revealed what is probably the most talked about of the two with the revelation that Chris Pine’s character Steve Trevor somehow survived (spoiler alert!) the explosion that had been assumed to have taken his life at the end of the first film.

Officially titled Wonder Woman 1984, our heroine and company now find themselves in the middle of the Reagan era, which is not only abundantly evident by the clever title, but also by the amazingly dashing Members Only jacket Steve Trevor is sporting as he walks through what appears to be a mall. Not to be outdone, Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot also released a new image from the film. See below.

In the image, Wonder Woman as Diana Prince stands facing a large wall of television monitors. Apparently, Wonder Woman is a Dallas fan, as I’m fairly certain I spot J.R. Ewing in one of those monitors.

We have a lot of questions remaining regarding the plot, but here’s what we do know! The sequel will be set in the United States during the 1980s. Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig have joined the cast, the latter as Wonder Woman’s long-standing arch-nemesis Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 (abbreviated as WW84) is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is intended to be the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman and the eighth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Patty Jenkins, with a screenplay by Geoff Johns, David Callaham, and Jenkins, from a story written by Johns and Jenkins. It stars Gal Gadot as the titular character, with Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal as supporting characters. It is the fourth live-action theatrical film featuring the titular character, following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Wonder Woman (2017) and Justice League (2017), and will be the second full-length feature film centered around her.
