The first trailer for The Sheep Detectives has arrived, introducing a mystery that blends comedy, action, and suspense with an unconventional premise.
Hugh Jackman stars as George Hardy, a shepherd who reads murder mysteries to his sheep each night, unaware they understand every word and debate the cases among themselves. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep recognize it as murder and decide to solve it themselves, especially after local cop Tim Derry, played by Nicholas Braun, proves ineffective.
Directed by Kyle Balda and produced by Lindsay Doran, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner, the film features a large ensemble cast that includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Emma Thompson, and more.
The Sheep Detectives opens in theaters on May 8, 2026 in the United States. It is being distributed by Amazon MGM Studios domestically and by Sony Pictures Releasing International in the United Kingdom and other markets.
